Our county economy continued to grow in 2018. Jobs grew, as more new businesses came to the county and existing businesses expanded. More people bought more new homes, and builders showed no signs of letting up. And infrastructure improvements continued to be made, especially along the crucial State Route 32 corridor.

# South Afton Industrial Park lands its first company, Design Within Reach. Opening in the Spring of 2019, the $17 million furniture distribution operation will employ 85 people.
# AAA Glass LLC will build a $14 million manufacturing facility in the Village of Batavia. It will create 89 jobs.
# Engineered Mobile Solutions is building a $4.38 million 80,000-square-foot facility in Batavia Township, adding 15 jobs to the current 51.
# Mercy Health is expanding its presence in the county, with the new $18.7 million Eastgate Medical Center at Ivy Pointe. The 75,000-square-foot building is expected to open in the third quarter of 2019.
# Bryan Equipment Sales will construct a 170,000-square-foot building at a new location on State Route 28 in Goshen Township.
# FC Cincinnati will build a $30 million soccer complex in the City of Milford that will include a 30,000-square-foot training facility and a 6,500-square-foot youth academy.
# Melink Corp. will double its headquarters with a second building on its Union Township campus – a Zero Energy Building as the company continues to lead the way in green building practices.
# Dedienne Aerospace signed a lease for space at the former Ford Transmission Plant and began business in Ohio in 2018, expecting to create 40 jobs. The 30,000-square-foot facility is its first in Ohio and the second location in North America. Dedienne supplies aerospace tooling, maintenance and support services for the growing American market.
# Retail and mom-and-pop businesses also continue to grow, with 18 ribbon-cuttings held around the county in 2018.

Clermont County, especially Batavia Township, was a hotbed for new single-family homes in 2018. Altogether, 499 single-family home permits were taken out in 2018 – 151 for Batavia Township!
New subdivisions that were approved in 2018:
# Batavia Township: Rosewood, 180 homes
# Goshen Township: Oakridge, 12 homes
# Miami Township: Madingley Falls, 92 homes; Celestial Estates, 18 homes
# Union Township: Magnolia Trace, 26 homes; Villas of Cherry Grove, 22 homes.
# At the start of 2019, Billingsley in Batavia Township was approved – 56 lots, including 155 multi-family units.
Better Roads and Infrastructure
# In August, ODOT starts to resurface and widen 1.74 miles of east State Route 32 from Gleneste-Withamsville Road to Olive Branch-Stonelick Road. Estimated cost: $3.8 million
# In July, the Clermont County Transportation Improvement District (TID) begins a year-long project at Bells Lane in coordination with ODOT to improve travel along SR 32. Improvements include widening of roads, adding turn lanes, adding sidewalks and traffic signals. Estimated cost: $4.1 million.
# In November, the TID completes the replacement of the Bristol Road Bridge across Ten Mile Creek in Pierce Township at a cost of $540,000.
# The Clermont County Engineer’s Office repairs and repaves 23 miles of road, at a cost of $709,000.
# The Water Resources Department (WRD) completes its Branch Hill Guinea Road Water Main Replacement project in August. This replaces 2,770 feet of existing 10- and 12-inch water mains, with one 16-inch water main. Cost: $396,700.
# In September, the WRD completes the Bethel Area Sewer Replacement project, which replaces and upsizes approximately 5,600 feet of existing sanitary sewers. Cost: $1.5 million.
